Triumph motorcycles are widely regarded as being one of the world's most legendary and well-respected brands of motorcycles. This esteemed line of British cycles maintains a rich and colorful history that stretches back to the early 20th century, and the brand is no stranger to speed and racing either!

A Brief History of Speed

In 1902, the first Triumph motorcycle was produced in Coventry, England by the Triumph Cycle Co. Ltd. The first Triumph motorcycle essentially consisted of a 2.2 horsepower single-cylinder Belgian Minerva engine that was attached to the downtube on a bicycle frame. By 1907, Triumph was a leading contender in the world of competitive motorcycle racing.

In 1937, the company debuted the 500cc Speed Twin model which delivered 27 horsepower and could attain speeds of 90 mph. At the racetracks, the Tiger 80 and the T100 were setting new performance records by 1939. In 1955, a streamliner racer powered by a 650cc Triumph engine was clocked at 193 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats. For almost the next 15 years, Triumph would hold the world motorcycle land speed record.

During the 1960s and 70s, Triumph dominated the world of motorcycle racing; in 1970 Trident models took the top three qualifying speeds at Daytona, the highest was 165 mph. The 2000s have brought forth an assortment of dynamic models, including the Rocket III, the Triple Daytona, Street Triple, Tiger 800, Speedmaster and Thunderbird Storm, many of which closely resemble their predecessors.

The World’s Fastest Accelerating Production Motorcycle

In late 2019, the Rocket 3 set a new 0-60mph record of just 2.73 seconds! While 0-60mph acceleration has been a yardstick among car fans for decades it’s never been a metric the motorcycle industry embraced, until now. At 2,500cc it’s the largest engine of any production motorcycle and it delivers 167 horsepower. What’s more important is 164 lb-ft of torque, which is 25 more than a Toyota Corolla. This makes it the fastest Triumph ever!

Incredible acceleration with a top speed of 145 mph is thwarted by big Brembos and the latest in stability control including ABS, cruise and multiple rider modes weather dependent. With adjustable ergonomics, this motorcycle is catered to cruising and long-distance touring and offers incredible control, comfort and capability.

A 5 gallon tank, hidden folding footrests, comfy pillion and rider seats with a low height and a torque assisted clutch are just a few of the details that balance out power with comfort and functionality. Specially designed tires, intricate spoke wheels and beautiful details might just leave you gawking. Quantities are limited, so don’t wait!
