Triumph Motorcycles SOS App for Emergency Alerts

May. 5 2021 Motorcycles By Erico Motorsports

Last month Triumph Motorcycles unveiled a new accident detection and emergency alert system that utilizes a smartphone app to quickly connect you to the nearest emergency services in the event of an accident. Whether you’re heading out for a solo ride or traveling as a group, make sure you download this app before you head out on your next ride!

Triumph SOS- Seconds Save Lives App

This Google cloud hosted emergency alerting platform automatically delivers the rider’s time-critical and potentially life-saving details including precise location and bike details directly to the emergency services within seconds of an accident being detected. The app uses different sensors to detect an accident, and the rider then has an opportunity to cancel the alert if it’s a false alarm before emergency responders are confirmed or automatically dispatched.

The platform has been specifically tailored for motorcyclists (it won’t work efficiently for cyclists or cars), and monitors key acceleration/deceleration sensors in your smartphone to detect and validate an accident. It’s been rigorously tested and false alarms are rare. The app does not record or send any speed or telematics data to emergency services.

Since it relies on smartphone technology anyone who rides any brand of motorcycle can use it, and Triumph owners are eligible for a free 3 month trial. It’s available for those of us riding in the UK, North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with a monthly subscription charge of $4.99 USD and $5.99 CAD, with no cancelation fees or long-term contract commitment, a small price to pay for the peace of mind and potentially life saving technology it provides.

What Makes This Better Than Other Systems?

In an accident every second matters and this is a quick and effective system that can contact emergency services, not an emergency contact, automatically and directly to ensure the rider gets the help they need. The rider has the opportunity to cancel or confirm the alert and failure to do either will result in an automatic dispatch of emergency services.

The app includes auto pause technology to prevent accidental triggering (if you drop your phone) and riders can also manually choose to turn ‘crash detection’ off at any time. You can also share real-time location data with a group or emergency contact. If using the app we recommended keeping your phone on your person as opposed to stored in your motorcycle.

Keep in mind the app requires a cell phone signal and also offers other navigation features such as: worldwide route recording, editing, and sharing, full screen routes with ride stats, export and share GPX files, and the ability to explore, discuss and share community recorded routes.

Putting technology to use for safety, the app provides precise GPS location, direction of travel, bike details, and medical information allow emergency responders to reach you quickly and provide assistance accordingly.
