How to Optimize Your Charge
Electric scooters are an eco-friendly and cheaper transportation option, but they do have their limitations. If you’re looking at a scooter without a removable battery, and you live on the top floor of an apartment complex, you’re not gonna haul that thing up with you to charge! With many scooters boasting 60+ miles, you’ll also need to consider if that distance is going to be adequate for your needs.
There are a few things that can help you get the most out of your charge. Be mindful of the terrain that you ride on; smoother surfaces like pavement will get you further, while riding off road will cause more effort and less mileage. The less weight you carry, the further your charge will last. Some scooters have different driving/power modes that will help maximize your charge as well.
The most common batteries used in scooters are lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries which have longer cycle times and charge much faster than other batteries. On the dashboard you’ll find details for battery percentage, how hard the motor is working on acceleration/hills, mileage until charge, speed, max speed, trip distance, time, temperature, and connectivity to the Vespa Media Platform and to your mobile phone.
You can select between three options, ‘Eco’ ‘Power’ and ‘Reverse’ (the latter is to help you reverse out of a parking spot, complete with reversing beep). Eco-mode, while a slower pace, will stretch your mileage the furthest, while Power-mode is the highest power setting; it won’t launch you into the future, but it does have a little extra pep!
