Frequently Asked Questions

Before we jump into lessons, let’s take a look at where you’ll be using your bike to help narrow down what kind of bike fits your lifestyle.

  1. Around Town

You’ll want a Standard. They’re built to do everything and employ a natural body position that promotes ease and confidence when learning. Standards have a classic look and are perfect for day rides and trips around town. A great example of a Standard would be the Triumph Bonneville.

  2. Around Town in Style

Cruisers are an alternative to Standards when you want to lay back and make a statement. With a typically more recumbent riding position, Cruisers are comfy for running around town as well as day trips in the hills. Larger Cruisers with saddle bags fitted are also great for long, relaxing road trips.

  3. Around Town with Ease and Maneuverability

Scooters are perfect when it comes to ease and maneuverability on crowded city streets. Featuring twist-and-go operation and a step-through profile, scooters are super easy to jump on and off of when running errands around town. Most scooters have a locking storage compartment under the seat and hooks for shoulder bags, purses and shopping totes. Getting up to 75mpg is the norm and some Vespa models do not even require license plates!

  4. Mountains

For a day in the hills, an Adventure bike is perfect. Also referred to as an ADV bike, these dual-purpose bikes are just that. Call it the SUV of the motorcycle world, blending both road abilities as well as comfort when the pavement runs out. Ducati makes several Dual Purpose bikes in the Multistrada lineup. Look at our Ducati Page for various selections in the Multistrada section. The Triumph alternative is in their Tiger lineup.

  5. Long Distance/Cross Country

If you’re planning on lots of road trips, you’ll want maximum comfort and rider amenities. Many European Adventure Touring bikes are built to live on and typically come with luggage and upgrades like cruise control, heated seats and grips, etc to keep you comfortable when away from home. The Ducati Multistrada and Triumph Tiger are great examples of Adventure Touring bikes you can vacation with.

  6. I Want to Go Fast

The fastest bikes are going to be Sportbikes. You’ll see these referred to as “SuperSport” or “Superbike”. Superbikes are great for fast rips in the canyons and days at the track working on cornering and bike handling skills. Read about high performance and advanced riding coaching at Erico’s Track Days on our Track Day Page. Ducati offers a good variety of Sportbikes in the Supersport and Panigale categories.

First thing you’ll want to do is sign up for and take the Basic Rider Course. Most beginner courses are going to be around $250.

Before signing up, you must have a valid driver’s license or permit and be able to balance a bike. Bicycle experience is recommended!

This is where we refer all of our new riders; they’re an excellent place to start.

Warranties are often transferable, meaning that a vehicle inside its mileage and duration caps will maintain its factory warranty.
